TASK

I did meet the brief for the G321 preliminary task which was to film and edit a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, also involving an exchange of dialogue. Before carrying out the film task I was assigned to write out the dialogue for the characters and also direct the actual filming so I decided what was going to be filmed. there were several techniques i used successfully to carry out the most productive visual image of the    For the camera work I  demonstrated match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180-degree rule. e.g. match on action of the door handle opening which is a form on continuity editing, I chose this shot to emphasise the idea that they are now entering the room.

Extreme close ups were also used so that the audience could analyse the facial expressions and understand how the interviewee feels when he is rejected so we see the impact of the rejection on his face, also this helps the audience just concentrate on him only. to add to the sadness of him not receiving the job i used cross dissolve transition from colour to a black and white effect.

Synchronous sound was also used here as non-digectic music which was a sad classical soundtrack adding when he was leaving the room so he had the black and white effect and the music to help us sympathise with him. Also i added the non-digectic sound of the clock ticking because what we was seeing which was the interviewee looking a the clock nervously it ,matches what were hearing which is the clock ticking representing the time passing by slowly. The shot/reverse shot of the interviewer walking towards the camera on one end but away on the other which shows the walk has a purpose,

However there are some techniques that are needed to be improved on for the future main production. Firstly filming needed to be practised to insure there was a flow in the clips and at some points it didn't cut correctly, this causes a distribution in the flow of the short film, also adding in with this maybe the editing needed to be more sharp and accurate at certain points. Also i will show an image of where there was a production error where the preliminary task was on the computer in front of the the interviewer so some viewers may spot this. So the mise-en-scene needed to be checked before filming so again more practice with the filming was needed.

i learnt multiple skills whilst filming the task , the main one was the idea of co-ordination with the team, there was strong communication however a more stable plan was needed to stop any production errors. For example when filming we wasn't sure what shots we were going to do. The 180-degree rule was extremely successful however it was a challenge but we overcame this, this rule was used when we saw the interviewer explain that he is not 'applicable for the job'. This helps the audience see both facial expressions and also show the skills that i can carry out. I used adobe premier pro which was a new software for me so it took so time to understand where certain tools were and how to use them but i grasped them quite quickly.
